Istanbul Kultur University | IKU

One of Turkey’s oldest private educational foundations, the Kültür Educational Foundation, founded Istanbul Kultur University in 1997. (KEV).

The university has roughly 59 departments, 54 Master’s programs, 11 Ph.D. programs, and 2 vocational schools. It aspires to become one of the most prestigious institutions in Europe as well as Turkey.

Istanbul Kultur focuses on discussion panels, conferences, and events that increase students’ cultural awareness by allowing them to debate and critically consider various subjects while using various educational and research techniques to discover the truth.

Documents Required for Associate/Undergraduate Application

Associate/Undergraduate: High school diploma, transcript, passport, residence permit (if applicable), blue card (if applicable), language proficiency certificate (if applicable), exam results document (if applicable).

Documents Required for Final Registration at Istanbul Kultur University | IKU :

Original High School Diploma (interim graduation certificate for newly graduated students whose diplomas have not been prepared by the registration date), an English or Turkish translation obtained from a sworn translation office if the high school diploma is not in English

An “Equivalence Certificate,” which shows the equivalency of the diploma to those received from Turkish high schools, to be received from the T.R. Ministry of National Education or Turkish Embassies or Consulates in the country of residence.

A transcript certified by the high school showing the grades and courses the candidate has taken in high school and an English or Turkish translation obtained from a sworn translation office if the official document is not in English

A photocopy of pages showing the passport credentials and validity (an English or Turkish translation is to be obtained from a sworn translation office if the passport information is not in English),

A “Student Visa” or a valid residence permit.(Some countries have visa exemption).

Health Insurance (taken out in Turkey, not required for students with Turkish nationality)

Documents Required For PhD Application

Documents required for application: a master diploma, transcript, passport, residence permit (if applicable), reference letter, language proficiency exam results recognized by YÖK(the Council of Higher Education in Turkey) if applicable, Turkish proficiency result (if applicable)

Master and undergraduate degree diplomas (if the documents are not in Turkish, their Turkish translation to be obtained from a sworn translation office)

Double major at Istanbul Kultur University | IKU

You can apply to the Minor, a significant program, if you want to develop your skills by taking a few courses from a different department in which you have an interest.

Certificates for their second major are given to minor program graduates.

According to the board resolution of the faculty/academy of the second major diploma program, students who are qualified to graduate from Istanbul Kültür University’s first diploma program but are unable to complete the second diploma program will be permitted a maximum of two more semesters.

The Board of Overseers sets the tuition for the double major program, taking into account the additional time.

No additional costs will be assessed for the extra two semesters for double major and minor programs, according to the Board of Overseers’ decision.

After the additional time period, students who have not finished their second major program are subject to the first major’s tuition requirements.

When applying for double majors, a 2.72 GPA is required, and when applying for minor programs, a 2.50 GPA is required.

Recognition and accreditation of Istanbul Kultur University | IKU

Our university is one of the select few that qualifies for the European Commission’s ECTS Label.

Additionally, our university has earned accreditations from national and international bodies like MÜDEK (Association for Evaluation and Accreditation of Engineering Programs), FEDEK (Science, Literature, Faculty of Science and Letters, Faculty of Languages, History and Geography Curriculum Programs Assessment and Accreditation Association), and MAK (Architectural Accrediting Board).

The European Accreditation Network for Engineering Education has recognized our engineering faculty as a European Accredited Engineering Bachelor Program (EUR-ACE).

Our engineering programs are also acknowledged by the Pakistani Engineering Council (PEC), which also makes sure that Pakistani graduates from our university can easily obtain employment in the country’s public institutions.

Life on campus of Istanbul Kultur University | IKU

Ataköy, Irinevler, Ncirli, and Basn Ekspres are the four campuses where education is offered by Istanbul Kültür University.

Ataköy Campus houses the Faculty of Science and Letters, Faculty of Engineering, Faculty of Architecture, and Faculty of Art and Design.

Basn Ekpres Campus houses the Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences and the Faculty of Education.

Irinevler Campus houses the Faculty of Law, Faculty of Health Sciences, Vocational School of Justice, and English Preparatory Classes. Shuttle services are used to get people between campuses.

Students have access to facilities on campuses for meeting their nutritional and other needs.

Students who arrive from Kadköy and Bostanc are given shuttle services to the Bakrköy Seabus in the morning and the evening.

Sport facilities at Istanbul Kultur University | IKU

The Sports Club, which was created under the Student Clubs Association, oversees all sporting events at Istanbul Kültür University.

The Sports Club’s mission is to unite students, faculty, and staff around a shared interest in sports, to represent Istanbul Kültür University in inter-university sports organizations, and to uphold the spirit of the university.

The university administration actively encourages participation in and the creation of organizations, as well as sporting events and team-building exercises.

At Istanbul Kültür University, three distinct sports programs are run by professional trainers under the direction of Namk Kemal KSE, the sports manager.

Social activities at Istanbul Kultur University | IKU

In accordance with the Student Clubs Association Directive of Istanbul Kültür University, students conduct their extracurricular professional, scientific, social, artistic, cultural, and sporting activities through student clubs.

Students can mingle, learn how to work in a team, acquire a sense of purpose and responsibility, and participate in activities that advance their professional and personal growth by joining clubs.

Therefore, it is crucial that students attend and participate in at least one club during their time in college.

Regardless of the department or program, all IKU students are welcome to join any club. Depending on their interests and skills, students are free to join any group they choose.

What are the language proficiency requirements for graduate programs?

Candidates applying for Istanbul Kültür University’s Ph.D. programs are required to get at least 66 points on the TOEFL IBT and at least 55 points on the YDS.

A minimum of 70 points on the language proficiency examinations by the Foreign Language Department of the University is required in English postgraduate programs.

Istanbul Kültür University Student Dormitories

Istanbul Kültür University’s Student Dormitories aim to create an environment that enables students to be successful by studying and living in a clean, comfortable, safe and civilized environment. Social and cultural activities organized in the dormitories also contribute to this success.

Dormitory for girls

Our girls’ dormitory has a capacity of 212 people and rooms for 2-3-4 people are available. The rooms have a bathroom, toilet (hot water for 24 hours), bed, quilt, pillow, dresser, nightstand, desk, fridge, air conditioning and wireless internet.

Dormitory for boys

Our boys’ dormitory has a capacity of 148 people and rooms for 2-3-4 people are available. The rooms have a bathroom, toilet (hot water for 24 hours), bed, quilt, pillow, dresser, desk, and wireless internet.

Are health-care services provided at  Istanbul Kultur University | IKU ?

Istanbul Kültür University has three infirmaries in which one nurse is employed. In these units, immediate medical response, medication support for several complaints, dressing and tension measuring are provided.

At the Ataköy campus, an institutional physician works full-time. Students with any health problem may receive support from infirmaries, may be examined by the doctor, and may benefit from discounts at contracted private hospitals if the doctor refers them to a hospital.

The doctor may treat and monitor the patient for a while in the observation room if he/she finds it necessary.

In addition, students may get the laboratory tests requested by outside hospitals or the institutional physician from the contracted laboratory at the Ataköy campus.
