Okan Culture, Education and Sports Foundation founded Istanbul Okan University in 1999, and it officially started its academic life in 2003–2004. Okan University is one of the newest and most vibrant universities in Turkey.

FOR TRANSFER STUDENTS to okan university
If a student has already attended another university and wishes to continue their education there, the registrar’s office at okan university must receive an official transcript from that institution, a copy of their high school diploma, a passport, and the course description.

Conditional acceptance letter:
You must provide your advance payment to okan university in order to complete your preliminary application.
If you want to stay in a dorm, you must also send a $100 deposit to secure your spot.
Please send the payment confirmation by email. It is not an additional payment because the advance payments will be subtracted from the package cost upon enrolment.
Full acceptance letter:
After you make the advance payment and submit the receipt to the International Office, you will receive a Full Acceptance Letter.
High School Diploma Equivalency:
This is an easy procedure in which the Provincial Department of Education in Istanbul (and in some cases a Turkish Embassy/Consulate) will provide an “Equivalency Letter” (in Turkish, a ”Denklik Belgesi”) certifying that the foreign high school diploma is equivalent to its counterpart, the Turkish high school diploma.
This document is delivered by applying in person and providing the original foreign high school diploma, its official Turkish translation and the student’s passport.

Official registration:
When you come to the University and complete your full registration, you must get your class timetable. Register for classes online on OIS System. You will find your advisors through the same system.

Student registrations are made by the Registrar’s Office.
The registration process cannot be completed unless the required documents are provided to the okan university.
Until provided, existing registrations may be cancelled. The documents required for registration are as follows:
An original High School Diploma (an interim graduation certificate for newly graduated students whose diplomas have not been prepared by the registration date), an English or Turkish translation obtained from a certified translation bureau if the high school diploma is not in English

A residence permit (must be submitted to the registrar’s office within a month of the registration date)

After the registration is officially completed by the Registrar’s Office, the student ID card will be prepared and given to the student within one week.

DORMITORY FOR GIRLS
Rooms in our girls’ dorm may accommodate 2-4 individuals. Bathroom, toilet (hot water available 24 hours a day), bed, quilt, pillow, dresser, nightstand, desk, fridge, air conditioning, and wireless internet are all included in the price of the accommodation.
DORMITORY FOR BOYS
Rooms in our boys’ dorm may accommodate 2-4 people. The rooms include a wireless internet connection, a desk, a dresser, a toilet with hot water available all the time, and a bed.
EXISTING SHARED AREAS AND PRACTICES IN DORMITORIES
A cafeteria (separate in the boys dormitories), an open kitchen, hot and cold water dispensers, restrooms, washing and ironing rooms, study rooms, drawing desks for architects, internet halls, and other facilities are available on each floor.
Okan university’s dorms are professionally cleaned each day by the cleaning crew. There are security cameras in every dorm that are active around-the-clock. Turnstiles require ID cards to be scanned in order to enter and exit. Weekend check-in begins at 01.00, while weekday check-in begins at 00.30.
