Sabanci University has been an inspiration to many other colleges ever since it opened its doors to students in 1999.
The world needs more competent persons who have the knowledge and skills necessary to pursue a profession wherever in the world as science, technology, and social systems advance daily.
In 1994, the Sabanci Group made the important decision to launch a “global university” under the direction of the Sabanci Foundation.
The Sabanci Group’s largest social responsibility project in the area of education, Sabanci University, was conceived during a search conference attended by 50 academics from 22 countries, students, and representatives of the corporate sector in the summer of 1995.
The conference, however, was only the beginning of a lengthy process that involved examining the top educational institutions in Turkey and throughout the world to learn how they operate and pinpoint the important factors that contributed to their success.
In the end, a new and distinctive university was created rather than using one university as a model or copying existing models and institutions.
Sabanci University has been an inspiration to many other colleges ever since it opened its doors to students in 1999.

Sabanci University accommodation
The dormitory is an integral part of college life and the scene of many memorable moments.
Depending on their memories of dorm life and the specifics of their experiences, university graduates in Turkey may conjure up a wide range of pictures when they hear the word “dormitory.”
For Savanci University, residence halls are an integral element of a proper university education and a happy college experience, where friends are formed and the skills of tolerance, sharing, and assisting others—or, to put it simply, the art of coexistence—are developed.
Savanci University living facilities are made to seem like homes away from home where students can congregate for friendly conversation or study alone in a family-like setting.
For the comfort of our students, each accommodation room has a separate telephone, a shower, and a set of lockers.
Students can use their own internet connection at their desks to do their homework, or they can utilize the common internet connection in the study halls on each level.
They can get refreshments from vending machines or check out the common TV rooms on each floor to unwind.
Even when there are other residents in the room, the rooms, which are meant for 2 or 4 students, allow their inhabitants to study or sleep without outside disruptions.
Cleanliness is a priority in housing facilities and dedicated personnel clean all areas in the dormitory.
Students can wash their personal items free of charge in the fully automated washing and drying machines located in the laundry rooms, and use the facilities provided for ironing.
